Dog Socialization Training

Socialization is how a dog learns to stay calm and confident around new people, other dogs, sounds and places. At Off Leash K9 Training North Alabama we do not run separate socialization classes, and our training is never a group class. Socialization is built into our puppy programs instead, one on one with a trainer.

Why it matters early

The first months shape the habits that decide what kind of adult dog you get. That is why our puppy programs start as young as 8 weeks and focus on socialization, handling and the foundation habits. Basic Obedience starts at 5 months because of your dog’s growth and socialization window.

Where socialization fits in our programs

  • AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Package: six private 30-minute positive reinforcement sessions over six weeks, for puppies 8 weeks to 5 months. Socialization, handling and the foundation habits, ending in the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy certificate.
  • 2 Week Puppy Board and Train: for puppies 12 to 24 weeks old. Positive-based only, with no e-collar, covering potty training, crate training, socialization, bite inhibition and an introduction to the basic commands.
  • Puppy Training Consultation: a one-hour sit-down about your puppy, covering basic socialization strategies, potty training and which program fits. It is credited toward any package you go on to buy.
