Programs and prices

These are the prices on our website on November 4, 2026. Prices can change; our prices page always has the current ones.

Board and train

Your dog lives and trains with one of our professional trainers, then you get a one-on-one handoff session that shows you how to handle your dog. The e-collar is included in every board and train except the puppy program.

1 Week "Freedom" Board and Train

$1,450

One week: off-leash recall outside, sit, off, greeting manners, and waiting at doors and for meals, plus a 1-hour handoff session and 2 free refresher sessions if needed. For dogs without anxiety, reactivity or aggression; it does not include public distraction work.

2 Week Basic Board and Train

$2,200

Two weeks of core commands (sit, down, come, place, heel and break) with low-level distractions and no public outings, plus a 1-hour handoff session.

2 Week Board and Train Program

$2,900

Two weeks of real-world obedience, practiced on outings to parks, trails, neighborhoods and stores, with off-leash freedom when appropriate, a 2-hour handoff session and lifetime refreshers. 6 months minimum age.

2 Week Anxiety Board and Train

$2,900

For dogs with high anxiety: like the 2 Week Board and Train, with public outings, but your dog stays on leash for its safety. Not for dogs at risk of biting. 6 months minimum age.

4 Week Elite Board and Train

$5,800

Our most complete program: everything in the 2 Week Board and Train plus more advanced commands, at least 10 real-world outings, video updates, and a free 1-hour tune-up whenever your dog needs one, for life. Not for dogs with anxiety, aggression or reactivity. 6 months minimum age.

Private lessons

One-on-one lessons where you and your dog train together with a trainer, once a week for an hour, at our Somerville facility.

Basic Obedience Program

$600

Four weekly one-hour private lessons: come, sit, down, place, loose-leash heel, off and break. E-collar included. 6 months minimum age.

Basic and Advanced Program

$950

Eight weekly private lessons: the basic commands plus four advanced commands you choose. E-collar included. 6 months minimum age.

Basic Marker Mastery

$500

Four one-hour reward-based sessions: come, sit, place and loose-leash walking. A 15-foot leash, clicker and slip lead are included; no e-collar.

Aggressive and Behavior Modification Lesson Program

$1,200

Eight private lessons for dogs with high fear, anxiety, reactivity or aggression toward people or animals. Your dog must be muzzle conditioned. The goal is a manageable dog, not a cure. On leash only; e-collar included.

Puppy programs

Positive-based programs for young puppies, with no e-collar.

AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Package

$500

Six private 30-minute lessons over six weeks for puppies 8 weeks to 5 months: potty training, socialization and intro commands, ending with the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy certificate.

2 Week Puppy Board and Train

$1,900

Two weeks for puppies 12 to 24 weeks old: potty and crate routine, socialization, bite inhibition, name recognition and intro commands.

Consultations

One hour with a trainer, in person.

Training Consultation

$100

We evaluate your dog and recommend the right program. The $100 is credited toward any obedience or training package you buy.

Puppy Training Consultation

$100

A one-hour consultation for a new puppy: potty training, nutrition, vaccination schedule, positive behavior shaping and socialization.

Puppies

Puppy training can start at 8 weeks. The AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Package is for puppies 8 weeks to 5 months, and the 2 Week Puppy Board and Train is for puppies 12 to 24 weeks old. Our balanced obedience and board and train programs with the e-collar start at 6 months. Call us and we will tell you what fits your puppy's age.

What every board and train includes

  • Your dog lives and trains with one of our professional trainers for the whole program.
  • Photo and video updates while your dog is with us.
  • A one-on-one handoff session at the end: 1 hour for the 1 Week Freedom and 2 Week Basic programs, 2 hours for the 2 Week Board and Train, and a few hours for the 4 Week Elite.
  • The e-collar, on every board and train except the puppy program.
  • Support after graduation: 2 free refresher sessions if needed on the 1 Week Freedom, lifetime refreshers on the 2 Week Board and Train, and lifetime tune-ups on the 4 Week Elite.

Frequently misunderstood facts

  • Board and train and private lessons are different. In board and train, your dog stays and trains with our trainer. In private lessons, you and your dog train together with a trainer once a week.
  • Aggression work is its own program. The Aggressive and Behavior Modification Lesson Program ($1,200) is built for dogs with high fear, anxiety, reactivity or aggression. The Anxiety Board and Train is not for dogs at risk of biting, and the Freedom and Elite programs are not for dogs with aggression or reactivity.
  • Behavior modification aims for a manageable dog. Nobody can promise to fix aggression. The goal is to get behaviors to a manageable state and teach you how to manage your dog.
  • A behavior modification board and train needs an evaluation first. Your dog must be evaluated and muzzle conditioned, and a plan is made at the evaluation. Call us for its current price.
  • Off-leash work depends on the program. Off-leash obedience is part of the 1 Week Freedom, 2 Week Board and Train and 4 Week Elite programs. The 2 Week Basic Board and Train works on core commands with low-level distractions, and the anxiety and behavior programs stay on leash.
  • E-collar programs start at 6 months. Younger puppies start with our positive-based puppy programs.
  • The e-collar is included. It comes with every program except the puppy programs and Basic Marker Mastery, so there is no extra equipment to buy.
  • The $100 training consultation is credited. It counts toward any obedience or training package you buy. The first phone consultation is free.

What Off Leash K9 Training of North Alabama is not

  • Not in-home training. We do not train in your home or travel to you. Private lessons are held at our Somerville facility.
  • Not group classes. Every program is private and one-on-one: you, your dog and your trainer.
  • Not a quick fix. Programs run from four weekly lessons to four weeks of board and train, followed by practice at home.
  • Not a substitute for veterinary care. If a behavior problem may have a medical cause, we recommend a veterinary evaluation first.
  • Not the same business as other Off Leash K9 Training locations. This page covers the North Alabama location only, based in Somerville, Alabama.
